Initial Exam
Get ready for an exciting adventure in the world of orthodontics! At the initial exam, Dr. Wahl and staff will first welcome you to the very CARING AND CONSCIENTIOUS Village Orthodontics. The first visit is approximately 30 minutes, which will consist of taking initial pictures and performing a very easy initial exam. At our office we pride ourselves on educating our patients each step of the way, and the initial exam is the start of the discovering of the amazing possibilities available in this field of dentistry.
If you or your child is ready for orthodontic treatment, records and consultation/orientation appointments are the next step (please read below). If Dr. Wahl recommends waiting on orthodontic treatment, you or your child will be placed on a recall schedule for future examinations.
Dr. Wahl has set aside one-half hour for your visit with NO FEE for this initial exam/consultation. So that we may continue offering this as a COURTESY visit, please contact the office at least 24 hours in advance should you need to reschedule.
Records
If Dr. Wahl recommends starting orthodontic treatment at this time, diagnostic records, which take approximately 45 minutes to complete, are made to determine the best course of treatment. Complete diagnostic records typically include a medical/dental history, clinical examination, plaster study models of the teeth, photos of the patient's face and teeth, and X-rays. This information is used to develop a custom treatment plan for each patient. These records are also helpful in tracking the progress of treatment as the teeth move under orthodontic care.
Consultation/Orientation
After Dr. Wahl has evaluated the diagnostic records of the patient's case, he will discuss the personalized treatment options/plan in detail. This will be presented visually on computer with our Consult Program, thus ensuring your understanding of the recommendations. He will set aside 45 minutes for the consultation visit.
An orientation to the orthodontic treatment (also presented visually on computer) will be completed at this time as well. Questions will surely be answered at this time!
Payment Options
We offer many payment options (including a no-interest, monthly payment plan) designed to suit different budgets. Cost of treatment is based on severity of the patient's problem, time in treatment, and quality of care. This will also be discussed at the consultation appointment prior to initiating any treatment, thus making the most of the valuable time you have set aside from your busy schedule to meet with us.
Insurance
Village Orthodontics accepts assignment from most insurance plans. Insurance coverage will be confirmed upon arrival at the office to help you determine available benefits. Assignment of benefits to us is available in most instances, and we will bill your company as a courtesy to you. We will help in every way we can in filing your claim and handling insurance questions from our office on your behalf.
Fees
In an effort to keep orthodontic fees down while maintaining the highest level of professional care, we have established this financial policy:
- If payment is made in full at the onset of treatment, we offer a fee discount. (If you have insurance, we will offer a discount for payment of your portion of the fee that will not be covered by your insurance benefit.)
- For your convenience, we accept payment by VISA, Mastercard, and Discover.
- In cases of serious delinquency, treatment will be placed on a maintenance level, until financial arrangements are made. We will make every effort to accommodate patients with temporary difficulties.
Regular Appointments
The appointment when you get your initial appliances (braces, expanders, etc.) usually takes 40 to 60 minutes. You will then see us at regular intervals 8 to 10 weeks apart for adjustments (which takes 15 to 30 minutes). We schedule longer appointments in the morning and mid-morning and shorter appointments after school. By doing this, we do not reserve an entire afternoon for one or two patients but rather accommodate as many families as possible for after-school appointments. If you prefer to come to the office during a quieter time, please schedule an appointment during school hours.
We make every effort to be on time for our patients and ask that you extend the same courtesy to us. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us immediately. It can be difficult to reschedule since appointments are made 8 weeks in advance
